A treatment for acne - Diet
The type of fats in the diet are a key factor for acne control. Use olive oil for cooking and on salads. Saturated fats and partially hydrogenated fats cause damage to body tissues and promote inflammation. Saturated fats are solid at room temperature and usually come from animal sources. Eat non-fat or low-fat dairy products. Cut back on red meats and butter. Partially hydrogenated fats are even worse because they replace unsaturated fats in cells. Eliminate partially hydrogenated fats from the diet. Avoid packaged snack foods, chips, crackers, and cookies that contain these fats. Read the labels on packaged products. Never eat margarine. Avoid fried foods. Oils that are heated and re-used to make French fries and fried chicken contain particularly harmful toxins. Supplement the diet with the omega-3 fats found in salmon and flax seeds. Avoid the omega-6 fats of vegetable oils (corn oil, safflower oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil) because they promote inflammation.

A treatment for acne: There are a number of actions that can worsen acne in anyone. In my experience I have discovered quite a few but that does not mean there are not others and it also does not mean that everything I list below will affect you in the same way. The only real way to identify your own personal stimulants is by paying close attention to what you eat and what you do. If you can, record your daily food intake so that when you have flare ups you can reference the records and see any links.
For a more comprehensive list and more detailed information I have created a complete guide available at from my website.
Take a potent multi-vitamin - Acne can be a sign that something is wrong on the inside. Your skin depends on nutrition. It is a vital organ that is usually neglected. If your body is not receiving the right nutrition, it will fight back. One common way it will rebel is to produce excessive sebum, clogging pores, and reducing the ability for your skin to heal and fight bacteria.
Include chromium in your diet - Chromium is well known for weight loss diets. But it is also excellent for healing infections on the skin. Taking a chromium supplement once a day will help heal your pimples quickly and prevent future breakouts.
Eat carrots for beta-carotene (Vitamin A) - Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and actually prevents acne. It helps reduce sebum production. This vitamin is essential for the maintenance and repair of the tissue which the skin and mucous membranes are made of. Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant needed to rid your body of toxins. Did you know that a deficiency in vitamin A can actually cause acne?

I learnt the hard way that alcohol should not be used as a home remedy for acne and with severe acne cutting back on processed foods replacing them with a healthy diet including lots of fruits and vegetables.
Eating fiber-rich foods like fruit and vegetables, wholegrains and cereals help to clean out your digestive tract. One of the reasons people get acne is because their colons are dirty. Undigested processed food and mucus over the years form really toxic stuff called mucoid plaque.
If you've had for many years a diet with regular servings of some of the following: Fried food, animal food (including dairy), sugar, tea or coffee, white flower, microwaved food, hydrogenated fats and drugs such as alcohol or aspirin then, you more than likely have mucoid plaque in your body. laser treatment for acne scarring - a treatment for acne. Benzoyl peroxide reduces bacteria on the skin and helps to peel the superficial layer of cells. Gentler, lower strengths (3-5 percent solutions) are less irritating and equally effective as stronger solutions. Again, avoid formulas that contain alcohol or cleansers. Benzoyl peroxide is a bleach. It may bleach clothing and can be irritating. Side effects include irritation, drying, itching, redness, and peeling.
Azelaic acid is found naturally in wheat, rye and barley. It acts as an antimicrobial, but also assists the normal sloughing and regrowth of skin cells. Apply it topically in a 20 percent cream formula (Azelex). Azelaic acid is a scavenger of free radicals and inhibits the negative effects of testosterone in the skin. It may cause irritation, redness, peeling, and depigmentation of the skin. Use it as a second line of treatment after instituting more natural, regenerating methods.
*For my male readers; if you are of African or Hispanic descent, most barbers recommend you use electric clippers to shave. For Caucasians & Asians, I have observed that using razors might not be a problem although if you prefer, you can use electric clippers also. Ensure that you shave in the direction of the hair's growth (mostly downwards) for an after-shave; it is advised that you perform the facial massaging as well afterwards.
In conclusion, acne, as impossible as it at times may seem, is (like almost every other disease) very easy to control and with drugless, all natural methods at that. You just need to be shown how. It is my hope that in a few weeks after you read AND apply the steps in this article; you too can go out and get that date, or flaunt that smooth face to the world as I can guarantee you that acne will become a thing of your past…and will stay that way for life. skin care treatment for acne
Topical treatments
There are several topical treatments you may be prescribed including those listed below:
azelaic acid (Skinoren) is an alternative to benzoyl peroxide and may not make your skin as sore as benzoyl peroxide
topical retinoids (eg Adapalene) are medicines based on vitamin A, which are rubbed into the skin once or twice a day. They work by encouraging the outer layer of skin to flake off
a topical antibiotic lotion applied to the skin can be used to control the P. acnes bacteria (eg Dalacin T). Treatment needs to continue for at least six months. Preparations that combine an antibiotic with other acne medication are available (eg Benzamycin which combines an antibiotic with benzoyl peroxide)
Oral treatments

Nutritional supplement essentials
1. Cod liver oil – 1 tablespoon per day with meals
Concentrated fish oil – 3 capsules per day
2. Zinc with Copper (50 mg zinc and 5 mg copper per day)
3. Acidophilus capsules (1 capsule twice/day) with meals
Skin applications
There are two reasons for people with acne to apply things to the skin. One is to exfoliate skin cells. Hormones that cause acne also cause excess shedding of skin cells, which block the pores. Exfoliants will correct abnormal shedding and unclog the pores. The second type of application, antiseptics and antibacterials will help prevent infections in the pores.
A treatment for acne. Bacteria in pores is one cause of pimples. Reduce the amount of bacteria by using toners containing anti-bacterial agents like alcohol, peroxide and benzalkonium chloride, and by using creams that contain benzoyl peroxide, which kill bacteria as well as cause the skin to regenerate faster.
Maintain a routine. Most acne treatments take time to work. It usually takes between two and eight weeks before you see any significant improvement, so you are going to have to be patient. Once you've gotten your acne cleared up, it's important to continue with the treatment that's working so it does not return.

1. Alpha and beta, Hydro acids
These are widely available over-the-counter and are the mildest form of fruit acids, used to create a peeling of the skin. They work slowly over time to speedup the exfoliation process. Alpha and beta, Hydro acids are usually pretty inexpensive and give good results in about 6-8 weeks.
2. Derma abrasion
This process is much like sanding of the skin much like you would sand an object with sandpaper. The goal with this method is to remove the outer layers of the dermis, usually up to 4 layers. For severe acne scarring, there is the operative derma abrasion performed by a doctor. This is of course more expensive, requiring a long recovery period, but it will remove much of the outer layers of skin.
3. Peels
A real peel will remove several layers of outer skin revealing the healthy new skin underneath. If you have ever had sunburn and then peeled - you will know exactly what I mean by "new skin."
Acne medications may cause your skin to initially break out worse than before because all FDA-approved acne medications (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur) are causing your skin to regenerate faster. This brings existing acne pimples already under your skin (but not visible yet) to the surface, which in turn causes a massive but fortunately temporary break out. Give the medications about one to two weeks and you will notice a big difference in the quality of your skin.
You can also try Ciprofloxacin eye drops. Take 1/4 of a drop of the medicine on your finger (of course wash it) and apply it on acne or where it is prone to come. Don't put too much as putting too much has no benefit. Just a thin film will be enough. I works very well because ciprofloxacin is a wide spectrum antibiotic. Keep in mind Ciprofloxacin is a very powerful antibiotic used for serious infections. The widespread overuse and misuse(using for acne would defiantly fall into this category, as Cipro is used for serious infections like ANTHRAX) of antibiotics like cipro have led to the emergence of super bugs that are resistant to almost all of our most powerful antibiotics. treatment for infant acne Benzoyl peroxide can cause redness and peeling, especially to start with. This tends to settle down if you reduce the number of times you use it. You can then build up your use gradually.
No home treatments for acne will work immediately. It can take weeks, if not months, for significant effects to be noticeable. If home treatments have not worked after two months, or you have severe acne, you should visit your GP.
Prescription medicines
Your GP may start your treatment by prescribing a preparation containing benzoyl peroxide. If this does not work, or if you have more severe acne, there are a range of other treatment options that you can either rub onto your skin (topical) or take in tablet form (oral).
Zits! Horrid, dreaded, hated. Zits!
No earthly good can come from a zit. Ask any teen who stares into the mirror before a date. Why don't those teenage models in fashion magazines have zits? The airbrush. "Mom can you get me an airbrush?" No magic wand exists, but there are measures that work to prevent and treat acne. A combination of approaches will bring the best results.
Will teenagers make the effort and take the time to institute preventive measures for acne? Some will, especially if the measures are not too complicated. For those people whose acne persists into the adult years, the dietary and lifestyle changes will have overall beneficial effects on health as well.

Wash twice a day with acne soap - You should wash your face twice a day with a sulfur based soap designed for acne. Once when you first wake up in the morning and then, right before you go to bed at night. Be extremely gentle to your skin when washing - do not scrub or use any sort of rough cloth. Overwashing your skin will actually stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, thus increasing your acne.
Keep your hair off your face - If you have long hair or bangs, pull your hair off your face. Your hair contains oils as well, and will contribute to your breakouts. You'll also want to wash your hair everyday and after workouts a treatment for acne! Teenagers are not the only ones who can get acne. Adults, at least 50%, suffer from blemishes and acne also. Sometimes adult acne is a result of pregnancy, diet, menopause or emotional upset. For some people acne is due to genetics or hormones that create excessive oil production and this clogs the pores of the skin. Some cosmetics can block pores which will create pimples.
All pimples or zits are created the same way. This is how it happens. The skin is constantly renewing itself and under normal conditions the old skin cells will shed. But sometimes these cells will stick together and they plug the hair follicle forming a comedone. Open comedones are blackheads and closed comedones are whiteheads.

Do not pick or squeeze your blackheads and pimples - As tempting as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples and blackheads. Do any of these actions, actually increases the sebum production. Plus, when you squeeze, you are actually rupturing the membranes below your skin, causing infection and sebum to spread underneath your skin. The result is more pimples.
Wash your pillow case every other day - Your face lays on your pillow case every day. Your pillow case absorbs the oils from your skin and reapplies the dirt and oil. Thus causing breakouts. Keep your sheets and pillow cases clean.
Eat foods rich in zinc - Zinc is an antibacterial agent and a necessary element in the oil-producing glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc can actually cause acne breakouts.
As is known in the drugless healing world, this simple, yet extremely effective dietetic change has been known to alleviate most otherwise incurable human ailments including acne, asthma and obesity. One factor I must add (from my own personal experience with this device while undergoing a 10 day juice fast) is to AVOID THE USE OF MICROWAVES STARTING NOW.
Now that I have briefly covered the internal measures to reducing acne, let’s go over the external ones.
*Never repeat the use of a pillowcase in 2 days, always change them nightly so get 7 clean ones. Be conscious of how they are folded to ensure you sleep on the unexposed side upon unfolding the pillowcases.
*As much as possible, keep unwashed hands off of your face, if you must touch it, say for example, to scratch an itch, ensure to use the back of your hands.
*Try to sleep on your right side. Besides making your sleep more refreshing, this practice ensures that you keep your face off of the pillow and freer to breathe during the night.
As an added benefit, your heart functions much better as you are not putting pressure on it based on this position of the body during sleep. treatments for acne scars

A treatment for acne - Diagnosing acne
Acne is easily recognised by the appearance of the spots, and by their distribution on the body.
There are several varieties of acne and your doctor will be able to tell you which type you have after examining your skin.
Treatment
Acne may cause you considerable emotional distress but there is a range of treatment options to help you tackle the problem. No treatment will completely 'cure' your acne. The aims of treatment are to prevent new spots forming, to improve those already present, and to prevent scarring.
What makes acne worse?
There are a number of things that can make your acne worse. These include the following:
picking and squeezing the spots may cause further inflammation and scarring
stress can make acne worse in some people, although it is not clear why
in women, outbreaks may be affected by the hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle
excessive production of male hormones such as testosterone from conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome may be another cause. For more information, please see the separate BUPA factsheet Polycystic ovary syndrome
some contraceptive pills may make acne worse. This is due to the type of progestogen hormone in some pills whereas some other types of contraceptive pills can improve acne - see Treatments section below. Your GP will advise you which contraceptive pill to take
some medicines can make acne worse. For example, some medicines taken for epilepsy, and steroid creams and ointments that are used for eczema. Do not stop a prescribed medicine if you suspect it is making your acne worse, but tell your GP. An alternative may be an option
steroids can cause acne as a side-effect

Soak a cotton ball in warm salt water. Press on top of blemish for 3 minutes to dissolve the top. Then, dab a bit of honey on the affected area to deep clean the pore and draw out bacteria. Let it sit for 10 minutes homeopathic treatment for acne
Acne begins in pilosebaceous units, which consist of sebaceous glands and a single hair follicle. The sebaceous glands produce an oily substance called sebum.
Sometimes, hormones produced in the adrenal glands trigger the production of excess sebum, clogging the follicle and leading to bacterial growth. The resulting plug can appear dark and is called a blackhead, or open comedo.
If the plug is below the skin surface, it is called a whitehead, or closed comedo.

When a closed comedone ruptures you get a pimple or zit. Pimples vary in size and appearance. They start out as papules which are small reddish bumps. They turn into pustules when they come to a head. And there ones that get inflamed and they are called deep cysts which contain blood and pus and can cause scarring.
To keep your face acne free try some of these tips...
For mild acne using an over the counter topical solution will help to alleviate it. Look for a gel or soap formulated with benzoyl peroxide which kills P.ances, the bacteria that causes acne. laser treatments for acne scars Disease is an attempt of the body to rid itself of these toxins and since, according to Dr. Stanley Burroughs, the skin is the next most important eliminating organ (second only to the lungs), acne is merely an indication that you need to cleanse yourself internally and take simple measures to alleviate the outer symptoms as the cleanse proceeds.
Just how does one do an internal cleanse?
Well, as I have mentioned in quite a few of my articles, the best way to do an internal cleanse (and the fastest I must say) will be to undergo a juice or water fast. Being a radical discipline, it must be undertaken with care but it is with confidence in a fast’s unmatched ability to restore health that you can be rest assured to see a drastic improvement in your skin condition at the end of about a 3 to 4 day fast.
The best thing you are able to do in the battle versus acne is to try everything you can to prevent it and to stop it from spreading. A lot of the things you should do are common sense routines of hygiene and face care. But there are a few things that can be executed that you might not think of. Because acne is induced when your face has too much oil and dead skin, which then clogs up the pores, you ought to cleanse your face twice each day with a good soap. Many folks advise employing a sulfur-based soap. Don't scour your face that will merely irritate your skin. Always cleanse softly and don't wash your face too frequently.
If you're going to employ a moisturizer on your face, ensure it doesn't contain an oil base. This is also something that ought to be looked at by women who are going to put on war paint. Whatever is going on a woman's face shouldn't contain an oil base. A make-up with a H2O base is a good deal better. Also, keep off putting on war paint as much as you are able to. But if you must wear it, ensure that you get rid of it prior to hitting the sack every night-time. Never slumber in your war paint...a treatment for acne. Foods to Avoid

Infant acne is sometimes caused by the hormones of the mother passed to the baby through the placenta. The infant's skin is actually cleansing itself through the acne. Other factors could be detergents, spit-up and milk.
Acne is neither harmful nor irritating to the infant. But unfortunately for the parents who may be concerned with the appearance of their baby's skin, there is no cure or a way to treat infant acne. This may cause some parents to want to try to cure the acne themselves. Washing the infant's skin too often or too harshly can make the condition worse. Parents should not pick at the acne. Acne products are much too harsh and should never be used on a child's skin.
Stop! As a licensed esthetician, I am sick and tired of all the false promises, over-hyped nonsense and simply bad information being passed off as fact about YOUR adult acne.
