Keep in mind though, that the widespread overuse(taking antibiotics when you really don't need them or for something they don't treat) and misuse(not taking medication for the specified amount of time) of antibiotics has led to the development of multiple antibiotic resistant bacteria. That means that the antibiotics won't work for the things they used to (including your acne).

Teenagers are not the only ones who can get acne. Adults, at least 50%, suffer from blemishes and acne also. Sometimes adult acne is a result of pregnancy, diet, menopause or emotional upset. For some people acne is due to genetics or hormones that create excessive oil production and this clogs the pores of the skin. Some cosmetics can block pores which will create pimples.

All pimples or zits are created the same way. This is how it happens. The skin is constantly renewing itself and under normal conditions the old skin cells will shed. But sometimes these cells will stick together and they plug the hair follicle forming a comedone. Open comedones are blackheads and closed comedones are whiteheads.

Light treatment for acne: Chinese medicine theory attributes acne to Heat and Toxicity in the Blood. Because acne lesions often occur along the classic T pattern, on the forehead, around the nose, and on the chin, where the energy meridians of the Stomach, Small Intestine, and Large Intestine originate and end, acne is also seen as a digestive problem. The skin has become an eliminating organ because of toxins resulting from poor digestion or chemical exposure.

What to do?
The measures to prevent and cure acne include diet, hygiene, nutritional supplements, and medicines. Maintain a consistent preventive and treatment program and acne will resolve. Natural treatments have no side effects. Drugs can cause problems, but may be necessary in persistent cases. Most problems with acne, however, will respond to natural treatments and a diligent program of diet and skin care.

Dead cells inside hair follicles normally are shed and come out onto the surface of the skin. But in people with acne, the cells are shed faster, stick together, mix with sebum, and clog the follicle. Then bacteria contaminate the skin cell and sebum mixture and grow. When the body's immune system tries to destroy the bacteria, inflammation results.

Accutane helps the function of the follicles return to normal, lowers production of sebum, slows the growth of a bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), and reduces inflammation and the chance for scarring. The drug is unique in its ability to affect all main underlying causes of acne formation.

Tea tree oil has been shown to remove and stop the growth of bacteria on the skin. An Australian study showed that a 5 percent tea tree oil gel was as effective as 5 percent benzoyl peroxide. Tea tree oil is the only essential oil (except for lavender) that can be applied directly to the skin with no carrier oil. Like other antimicrobials, tea tree oil should be used in a consistent daily regimen to prevent infections. acne scar treatment reviews - light treatment for acne. Acne Treatment
There is a tendency for most people when seeing a 'ripe' pimple to pick or squeeze it. This will cause further damage to your skin as germs or bacterias from your finger tips can cause inflammation and scarring as a result. The risk of infection is also increased.

A good reference guide about acne treatment is an ebook written by Chris Gibson. Chris, who was once a chronic acne sufferer, found a scientically proven way to permanently clear his acne problem. Read about how Chris cured his acne in 3 days without any harsh prescription drugs or over-the-counter products.

1. Alpha and beta, Hydro acids
These are widely available over-the-counter and are the mildest form of fruit acids, used to create a peeling of the skin. They work slowly over time to speedup the exfoliation process. Alpha and beta, Hydro acids are usually pretty inexpensive and give good results in about 6-8 weeks.

2. Derma abrasion
This process is much like sanding of the skin much like you would sand an object with sandpaper. The goal with this method is to remove the outer layers of the dermis, usually up to 4 layers. For severe acne scarring, there is the operative derma abrasion performed by a doctor. This is of course more expensive, requiring a long recovery period, but it will remove much of the outer layers of skin.

3. Peels
A real peel will remove several layers of outer skin revealing the healthy new skin underneath. If you have ever had sunburn and then peeled - you will know exactly what I mean by "new skin."

Light treatment for acne. RED AND PROCESSED MEAT

Processed meats are overall entirely lacking nutritional value. Meat pies, hot dogs, frozen meats all go through an extensive preparation process which extracts the little nutritional value they have and also allow them to further 'decompose' making them even more acidifying than they already were. Even fresh meat is notorious for its negative effects on pH balance. It is a general fact that a dead animal will have an acidifying effect on your body. That is not to say that it is completely unhealthy. Meat will always have its benefits; protein, energy, some nutrients. But over-indulging in any type of meat is definitely not a healthy choice. In particular, red meats should be kept to an absolute minimum. White meats like poultry and seafood are better options as they are less acidifying and still provide the necessary proteins that a meat should.

Additionally, while there is no direct scientific evidence to link red meat to cancer, it is widely accepted by medical practitioners that red meat aggravates the bowels and can cause (or at the very least worsen) diseases that develop in the bowel. As the most important part of the digestive process, the bowels are responsible for extracting nutrients from the food you eat. Any damage done to either of the bowels will adversely effect your body's ability to digest food, even healthy food. This will, among other and more serious things, lead to a lower pH level.

TOUCHING AFFECTED AREAS

Don't touch your pimples! I am sure you have all heard this one before but here is why you shouldn't. As mentioned in previous posts, acne on the skin is based bacteria and infection. Touching affected areas spreads bacteria and infection to the surrounding areas. Additionally, our hands come into contact with hundreds of different objects every day. Door handles, keyboards, tables, cars, floors, plants, etc. All of which hundreds of other people have touched and which have probably not been cleaned for many months (if ever). Bacteria and/or dirt cover the majority of these objects and until you wash your hands, you will spread both over anything you touch. So why touch an area that is bad enough to have acne and make it worse?

Once the skin is regenerating (after two weeks using gentle, natural treatments) you may want to add a stronger facial exfoliant. Many cosmetic manufacturers produce Glycolic acid formulas (15 percent strength). Avoid products that contain heavy moisturizing ingredients and alcohol. Glycolic acid helps loosen or break up the outer layer of the skin and prevents excessive build-up of dead skin cells.
Vitamin A derivatives (retinoids) - topical vitamin A acid - normalizes the way skin grows and sheds and stabilizes the openings of pores. It also creates an unwelcome environment for bacteria. Retin-A and other retinoids in cream or gel are available by prescription only. Side effects include red skin and peeling, and sun sensitivity. Do not use during pregnancy.

Antiseptics and antibacterials exposed acne treatment review *Wash your hair with a mild shampoo every night especially if you use greasy hair products, or use a wrap-around nightcap that covers the hair and ensure the cap is washed every morning.

*Make frequent visits to the steam room of a gymnasium or you can steam the face at home as an alternative. The aim here is to aid the skin in eliminating toxins through sweating.

*Massage the face regularly as this not only aids in cleansing the face, but it firms up the skin and alleviates unwanted signs of aging such as crow’s feet, bags under the eyes, lines and wrinkles.

*Engage in some form of exercise to aid the body in detoxification and metabolism.
Being one of the three limbs of drugless healing, exercise keeps you younger, fit and healthy…like you didn’t already know that. I must single out Yoga as one of the best forms of exercise to choose. Some poses such as the Sun Salutations, the Shoulder-Stand and the Peacock pose have been known through the ages to help alleviate many skin disorders and did I mention they give you the added bonus of making you stronger.

Topical treatments
There are several topical treatments you may be prescribed including those listed below:

azelaic acid (Skinoren) is an alternative to benzoyl peroxide and may not make your skin as sore as benzoyl peroxide
topical retinoids (eg Adapalene) are medicines based on vitamin A, which are rubbed into the skin once or twice a day. They work by encouraging the outer layer of skin to flake off
a topical antibiotic lotion applied to the skin can be used to control the P. acnes bacteria (eg Dalacin T). Treatment needs to continue for at least six months. Preparations that combine an antibiotic with other acne medication are available (eg Benzamycin which combines an antibiotic with benzoyl peroxide)
Oral treatments
There are several oral treatments you may be prescribed including those listed below:

Acne is the most common skin disorder, and while it usually appears in adolescence, adults can get it too. Acne occurs when hair follicles and the sebaceous glands inside the follicles are inflamed. Sebaceous glands make an oily substance called sebum. Too much sebum can clog the follicles and lead to bacterial growth and inflammation.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the four basic mechanisms contributing to acne are hormones, increased sebum production, changes inside hair follicles, and bacteria. Acne usually occurs at age 11 to 14 when the body starts producing male hormones called androgens. Androgens can over-stimulate sebaceous glands and make them produce more sebum. light treatment for acne! I learnt the hard way that alcohol should not be used as a home remedy for acne and with severe acne cutting back on processed foods replacing them with a healthy diet including lots of fruits and vegetables.

Eating fiber-rich foods like fruit and vegetables, wholegrains and cereals help to clean out your digestive tract. One of the reasons people get acne is because their colons are dirty. Undigested processed food and mucus over the years form really toxic stuff called mucoid plaque.

If you've had for many years a diet with regular servings of some of the following: Fried food, animal food (including dairy), sugar, tea or coffee, white flower, microwaved food, hydrogenated fats and drugs such as alcohol or aspirin then, you more than likely have mucoid plaque in your body.

Acne
This factsheet is for people who have acne.

Acne is a skin condition that causes spots. Most people affected by acne are aged between 12 and 25. However, men and women in their 30s and 40s can also suffer. There are many treatments available to help deal with the condition.

OILY, DIRTY AND DEAD SKIN

Throughout the course of the day, your skin will both sweat, shed, and produce oil. On top of that, it will also collect any dirt from the air. You must avoid allowing this to build up. There are a few ways to maintain your skin. The first is to make sure you have a shower every day (twice a day is better but once is minimum). Always use an exfoliator (a facial scrub and loufa will do). If you exercise or play sport, always shower immediately afterwards - if no shower is available at the very least you should wash your face.

Sweat is one of the most efficient ways for your body to discharge toxins that have built up. This is why exercise will always help the fight against acne. However, if you allow the sweat to remain on the skin it will allow excessive growth of bacteria and collect even more dirt than usual. It is hard to say how sweat effects the buildup of oil because the moisture could be either. Despite that, the other factors should be enough to convince you to keep your skin as clean as possible.

Oh and one more thing. For those of you that do suffer from oily skin, the best treatment I found is to apply Himalayan Crystal Salt 2-3 times a day. It is 100% completely natural and does not damage the skin. Simply wet and apply. Easy. best acne treatment for men

Homeopathy and cystic acne

Severe acne symptoms may be helped by treatment from a homeopathic practitioner. A constitutional homeopathic prescription can raise resistance, increase immune system strength, and help resolve the tendency to develop severe acne lesions.

Antibiotics
If natural methods of treatment have not succeeded after a six-month trial, then a course of oral (systemic) antibiotics may be required. The most common antibiotic prescriptions are erythromycin, minocycline, and tetracycline. A short course of 5-7 days is safest. Be aware that antibiotics may cause unwanted side effects, especially if used over an extended period of time. It is possible that antibiotics can aggravate acne symptoms, or replace a primary infection with a secondary acne infection. Antibiotics may also cause yeast overgrowth symptoms, vaginal yeast infections, upset stomach, allergies, increased susceptibility to sun-damage, yellowing of teeth, decrease in absorption of some vitamins and minerals, and increased bacterial resistance.

Light treatment for acne - Do not pick or squeeze your blackheads and pimples - As tempting as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples and blackheads. Zits! Horrid, dreaded, hated. Zits!

No earthly good can come from a zit. Ask any teen who stares into the mirror before a date. Why don't those teenage models in fashion magazines have zits? The airbrush. "Mom can you get me an airbrush?" No magic wand exists, but there are measures that work to prevent and treat acne. A combination of approaches will bring the best results.

Will teenagers make the effort and take the time to institute preventive measures for acne? Some will, especially if the measures are not too complicated. For those people whose acne persists into the adult years, the dietary and lifestyle changes will have overall beneficial effects on health as well.

Acne affects people of all skin colours. The processes that cause acne are exactly the same in people with black or brown skin but the impact is altered by the skin pigmentation.

Acne is very common and affects about 80 in 100 people aged 11-30 at some time.

The skin
The surface of the skin has lots of small sebaceous glands just below the surface. These glands make an oily substance called sebum that keeps the skin smooth and supple.

Tiny pores (holes in the skin) allow the sebum to come to the skin surface. Hairs also grow through these pores. on the spot acne treatment reviews

Regular Exfoliation
One of the major things, is the lack of consistent exfoliation. Exfoliation is the natural process of flaking away of the outer skin cells, revealing a new layer of skin that exposes and protects you from the outside elements. As we get older, the exfoliation process tends to slow down. This can lead to an abnormal buildup of dry skin on the surface that block pores and causes breakouts, or contributes to the wrinkling of skin. Some people are more genetically inclined in the slowing of their natural exfoliation, and often have serious issues with blocked pores and acne. The key here is to speed up the exfoliation process so that the skin renews itself much quicker. This can be accomplished by the following methods:

As is known in the drugless healing world, this simple, yet extremely effective dietetic change has been known to alleviate most otherwise incurable human ailments including acne, asthma and obesity. One factor I must add (from my own personal experience with this device while undergoing a 10 day juice fast) is to AVOID THE USE OF MICROWAVES STARTING NOW.

Now that I have briefly covered the internal measures to reducing acne, let’s go over the external ones.

*Never repeat the use of a pillowcase in 2 days, always change them nightly so get 7 clean ones. Be conscious of how they are folded to ensure you sleep on the unexposed side upon unfolding the pillowcases.

*As much as possible, keep unwashed hands off of your face, if you must touch it, say for example, to scratch an itch, ensure to use the back of your hands.

*Try to sleep on your right side. Besides making your sleep more refreshing, this practice ensures that you keep your face off of the pillow and freer to breathe during the night.
As an added benefit, your heart functions much better as you are not putting pressure on it based on this position of the body during sleep.
